Structure of the Ceremony 1. The Betrothal Takes place at the entrance of the church. Rings are blessed and placed on the couple’s right hands. Rings are exchanged (traditionally by the priest or best man). Symbolizes commitment and intention. 2. The Crowning (Marriage Service) This is the heart of the ceremony. Crowns (Stefana) are placed on the bride and groom’s heads. Represent glory, honor, and self-sacrifice. Common Cup The couple shares wine, symbolizing a shared life of joy and sorrow. The Dance of Isaiah The couple is led in a ceremonial walk around the altar three times. Represents their first steps together in Christ.
