Anna and Ryan met while living as neighbors in Davis, California in the spring of 2012. They met through mutual neighbors and started their friendship as running buddies in the UC Davis Arboretum. Ryan always ran faster than Anna, he would wait for her at the end of the loop, and then they would walk home together. One evening, they started their run later than usual and it began getting dark. Ryan turned around and ran back to meet Anna because he didn’t want her to run alone in the dark. It was this chivalrous moment that sparked Anna’s realization that maybe this was more than friendship. Eventually they revealed their feelings for each other and began their relationship in August 2012! Through moving to Reno together for Anna’s master’s program, moving back to Sacramento to both start their careers, becoming new cat parents to two adopted kitties, and 8 years together, Ryan and Anna are so excited to continue their journey into marriage and celebrate with those they love.
Ryan proposed the day before his 30th birthday in an attempt to surprise Anna. However, Anna saw the proposal coming from weeks away because Ryan never plans anything for his birthday. They were both so nervous the night before the proposal that neither one of them slept. He proposed on the cliffs of Wilder Ranch State Park in Santa Cruz overlooking the beautiful ocean landscape and she said yes!
