Our first actual meeting was at a house party in the spring of our first year of medical school. It was a 90's themed party, which I attended with Laura. Mark and Jordan came together, and we all talked on the sofa over cheese puffs and beer. I did not see Mark again until August, at the Beach to Beacon run in Cape Elizabeth, when Jordan and Elise played matchmakers and made sure that we all carpooled together. As Elise and I were training together, we would occasionally pass Jordan and Mark while they were running, and I confided in Elise that I had developed a crush on Mark over the summer. Elise and Jordan, along with Laura and Elizabeth, (who were also painfully aware of my enormous crush) cleverly orchestrated family dinners for our group of friends, so Mark and I could “coincidentally" see each other. We sat next to each other in Laura and Elizabeth's kitchen and started talking about British police procedurals and crime dramas, and made a date to watch The Fall together later that week. We officially started dating that September. Throughout our second year of medical school, Mark and I took many walks on Gooserocks Beach, shared more pints of Ben and Jerry's than either of us would like to admit, tested the versatility of cooking with a toaster oven, shared dog-sitting duties, met each other's families, and fell in love. Three years of medical school, hours of boards studying, two moves, three sublets, and one residency couple's match later, we are so happy to be planning our wedding and look forward to celebrating with our friends and families!
