Question

How can I prepare for the altitude in Vail?

Answer

Drink water before your trip, and while you are at high altitude. Drinking plenty of water is the best way to help your body adjust easily. The low humidity in Colorado keeps the air dry, like the desert, so you need about twice as much water here as you would drink at home closer to sea level. Dehydration is a contributor to altitude sickness. The rarefied air, golf balls go farther...and so do cocktails, at least until you've acclimatized to the altitude and dry climate. Eat foods high in potassium such as broccoli, bananas, avocado, cantaloupe, celery, greens, bran, chocolate, granola, dates, dried fruit, potatoes and tomatoes. They will help you replenish electrolytes by balancing salt intake. Pack for sun. With less water vapor in the air at this altitude, the sky really is bluer in Colorado. But there's 25 percent less protection from the sun, so sunscreen is a must. Colorado receives more than 300 days of sunshine each year (more than San Diego or Miami). Bring sunglasses, sunscreen and lip balm. Dress in layers. Two days before your trip, check the weather and use this information to pack appropriately. Because the sun is especially powerful, it can feel much warmer than the actual temperature during the daytime, but then become very chilly after sundown, particularly in the spring and fall. It is best to layer your clothing. Supplemental oxygen. Oxygen can actually be delivered straight to you and can help when used, especially when you sleep. Question

What should I pack?

Answer

For pre-wedding events, please refer to the RSVP page and your invitation for dress code. For the wedding itself, we ask that you come in Elevated Garden Party attire. We’ve included a style inspiration page on the wedding website with example looks and outfit inspiration to help capture the overall vibe. Dancing will be held in a tent, so we recommend bringing a light jacket or shawl for the evening hours. While you are here, you will enjoy having good walking shoes, sunglasses, a hat, and plenty of layers. You will also need sunscreen as the rays up here are extra intense with the elevation. We can go from cool mornings, to hot afternoons (with maybe some rain mixed in) to chilly nights pretty rapidly up here. Most of the hotels and AirBnBs have pool or hot tub access so pack your swimsuit as well!

Question

How do I get from DIA to Vail?

Answer

Private Car Service The most seamless option is booking a private SUV or shuttle service directly from the airport to your hotel or rental property in Vail. We recommend reserving transportation in advance, especially during weekends and peak mountain travel seasons. Shared Shuttle Services Colorado Mountain Express (Epic Mountain Express) and other shared shuttle providers offer daily transportation between DIA and Vail. Rental Car Rental cars are available directly at DIA for guests who would like flexibility during their stay. The drive to Vail is approximately 2–3 hours depending on weather and traffic conditions. Bustang / Public Transportation Colorado’s Bustang service also provides transportation from Denver to Vail for guests looking for a more affordable option. Once you arrive in Vail, the town offers a free and easy-to-use bus system that makes getting around the villages and nearby areas very convenient without needing a car.

Question

Are kids invited?

Answer

While we love your little ones, our wedding will be an adults-only celebration unless children were specifically included on your invitation. For those traveling with little ones, we’re happy to share an optional babysitting service through Resort Sitters, https://www.resortsitters.com/vail-babysitters/. They offer experienced, background-checked, and CPR-certified sitters who can provide care in your hotel, rental, or at a designated group setting during the wedding events. Their team can coordinate everything from one-on-one care to group childcare, complete with games, crafts, and activities to keep kids entertained while you enjoy the celebration. If you’re interested, we recommend reaching out in advance to reserve a sitter, as availability can be limited during busy weekends.

Question

Q: Can I use Uber to get around Vail and the surrounding areas?

Answer

A: Uber is available in Vail, but availability can be limited. We recommend not relying on Uber as your only transportation option. If a rideshare isn't available and the free Vail bus system doesn't meet your needs, you can reserve a taxi through Vail Taxi Service at (970) 524-5555. https://www.hmtaxi.com/vail-taxi
