Our Story

A decade in the making!

If you ask Davis, he’ll tell you he knew the moment he saw Anna in the Arlington High School parking lot. Their siblings, Alaina and Thomas, had parked their cars next to each other, and Davis—ever the strategist—turned to Thomas and asked, "Who is that?" From that morning on, Davis became the master of the "coincidental" encounter. He started timing his arrival at school to the second, ensuring he’d "just happen" to walk through the front doors at the exact same time as Anna. By freshman year, they were fast friends in Student Council, their lives overlapping through a shared circle of friends and siblings. Davis, ever-confident, began telling anyone who would listen that they were "talking." Anna, ever-sensible, had to shut that rumor down really fast! Persistence, as it turns out, is charming. By sophomore year, Anna realized that the sweet, funny boy who was always around was exactly who she wanted to be with. The rest of high school was a blur of milestones. Davis became the loudest cheerleader the volleyball team ever had, and Anna was in the front row of Davis's theater productions (occasionally having to remind the "theater girls" that the leading man was already taken!). They survived the "brief break" that everyone remembers all too well... only to come back stronger than ever—capping off their senior year as Mr. and Miss AHS. College brought the first real test: the hour-and-a-half stretch from Memphis to Oxford. Anna headed to Ole Miss, while Davis stayed in town at the University of Memphis. For four years, Davis became an honorary Ole Miss student, never missing a date party and becoming an integral part of Anna's friend group one visit at a time. Through every long-distance phone call and weekend drive, they knew the goal was always to end up in the same zip code again. When Anna got into Tulane Law, she had one big question: "How would you like to go to New Orleans with me?" Davis didn't skip a beat, transferring his job with Enterprise so they could start their New Orleans chapter together. In July of 2024, they moved into their first home and quickly added two more members to the family: their adorable (and slightly spoiled) cats, Limoncello and Zinfandel! After a year of navigating law school and NOLA life, they headed home to Memphis for the 4th of July. Davis told Anna he had to stay behind for work and wouldn't make it until the next day. Little did she know, Davis was racing to Memphis to be there that night. That evening, as the Skidmore and Cornelius families gathered for fireworks, someone yelled for everyone to come outside. Anna walked outside to see a sign glowing in the dark: "Will You Marry Me?" Davis stepped out from behind the sign, she then yelled "You're a liar!" since she believed she would not see him until the next day! Then, Davis took her hand, and admitted, "I have forgotten everything I planned to say. But I love you forever... will you marry me?" Through happy tears, Anna gave him the easiest "YES" ever. They celebrated the rest of the night with their friends and family! One thing everyone always says about Anna and Davis is how happy and in love they look! They are genuinely happy in each other's presence. From playing Yahtzee to travelling the world, they never get bored of just hanging out. There is something so special about finding the person you love and your best friend all in one - that is what Anna and Davis have found! It is said that less than 10% of high school sweethearts get married. Anna and Davis are excited to join that statistic and celebrate with all of you, who they love so much!
