Anna and Christian's love story begins their senior year of high school. They were initially set up by some mutual friends on New Year's Eve. They then went on a few dates and hit it off. Christian asked Anna to prom their senior year, and they had such a great time, they continued spending time together throughout the summer leading up to their freshman year of college. As the summer progressed, they realized they had something special, and they wanted to try to make long distance work while they both went their separate ways in college - Anna was going to Virginia Tech, and Christian was going to Hampden-Sydney. After four years of long distance in college and many trips back and forth from Blacksburg and Farmville, they settled in Richmond for a short time. Anna then started Physician Assistant school, and they were back to long distance. After another 2.5 years and many late night phone calls and weekend visits, they were finally back in the same city together. The rest is history!

Every year for Christmas, Anna and Christian gift each other a trip instead of doing presents. Because of the pandemic, they knew they couldn't plan a trip this year. Christian told Anna he wanted to instead surprise her with a day together, but she wasn't allowed to know what this entailed. They spent the afternoon in the Charlottesville area at a brewery watching football, and then went to one of their favorite wineries, Afton Mountain Vineyards. They sat at their usual table, and after tasting some wines, they walked down to the pond on the vineyard's property. Christian got down on one knee, asked Anna to marry him, and of course she said yes! To top it all off, Christian surprised Anna by having their families join them to celebrate.
