How We Met

Mustaches & Acquisitions

"I like your mustache." That was probably the first thing Anna ever said to Cam. It was November of 2019. Cam and Anna were both working at a company called Dataxu in Boston. Cam had decided to grow a mustache to commemorate Movember (it wasn't the best idea; he's not Allyn Brown, after all). After a few too many happy hours with colleagues and Anna generously buying Cam a beer, it was clear something special was forming. Less than two weeks later, their company was acquired by Roku. This marked a turning point not only for Roku's shareholders but also for Cam and Anna's relationship. On that fateful day, Roku threw a celebration party at Clarke's Tavern in Faneuil Hall, complete with an open bar. Upon arriving at Clarke's, Cam was approached by the girl who had complimented his mustache (it was gone by then, thankfully). "You owe me a beer!" Anna declared. Cam, knowing full well it was an open bar, replied, "I'll get you as many drinks as you want, don't you worry about it!" That conversation sparked a first date at Artu in the North End, where Anna was living at the time. One date quickly turned into many, with Cam happily spending entire paychecks on Boston parking garages for two years just to visit Anna. Those cozy nights in her tiny, 200-square-foot apartment eventually brought Cam to a Christmas tree farm in Preston, Connecticut, where he met Anna's parents, Allyn and Kim. Five years later, we have the pleasure of welcoming all of our closest friends and family back to Maple Lane Farms to celebrate our love!
