Bryce and Anna matched on the dating app Bumble in August of 2019. Anna felt strongly that she recognized Bryce from his photos but couldn’t remember how she may have known him, so the first message she sent said: “Hi! This might be weird but do we know each other? I feel like I recognize you.” Bryce replied by saying: “I don’t think so. I’m sure you’ve just seen me around. Missoula’s a small town.” They chatted a little bit through the app but it fizzled out and they weren’t going to meet IRL. Within the next week, a childhood friend visited and that guy on Bumble popped into Anna’s head for some reason. Anna showed her his picture asking if she happened to know him. It turned out that her sister knew him from working as counselors at Flathead Lutheran Bible Camp, where Anna went every summer growing up. Anna received a text from Bryce later that day saying “Haha I guess we’ve met” The two ended up meeting up for a beer despite both of them thinking it would be incredibly awkward. They met on August 23rd at a brewery in Missoula called Gild, which has an arcade in the basement. They quickly figured out that Bryce had been her camp counselor at the sailing camp on Flathead Lake. Bryce impressed Anna with his knowledge of heirloom eggplants and then they beat the X-Men arcade game together. Thus was the start of a beautiful relationship.
