They say everyone else saw it before we did. Whether it was our mutual friends giving a little nudge or the church ladies’ prayers, it seems the whole community was rooting for us from the start. Looking back, we’re certain we wouldn’t be here without their support and encouragement. It only took a few dates (and Milo’s approval) before Brendan caught on, but after a long night talking at a wedding, we both knew—this was something real.

Brendan planned a proposal that fit us perfectly—simple, personal, and at home. We were out walking the dogs near the house, one of our favorite spots with the best views. He’d been acting a little strange all afternoon, but I didn’t think much of it. When we reached the top of the hill, I noticed a drone flying overhead and said, “Look at that drone!” When I turned around, Brendan was on one knee. He was filming the whole thing on his drone. He told me “If there is anything I have learned this past year, it’s that I don’t want to live another year without you by my side.” It couldn’t have been more perfect—just us, the dogs, and the quiet of the country.
