We didn't always know each other. And even when we did, we didn't talk. Then one day, we got in a conversation over an online post. From there it all started! Texting, hanging out as often as possible, learning as much as we could about each other, and finally, around the dying embers of a spring bonfire, letting out the not so secret knowledge that yeah - we liked each other. So we started dating and on May 25th, 2018, Andrew took my hands in his as we sat on the couch and asked if I would be his girlfriend. We started a long distance relationship shortly after - but made time for phone calls, Facetimes, and a few special days together over the summer. After a while, we managed to make it back into the same country - and same city- and got to do day by day life together! One of the first things I remember "discovering" about Andrew upon coming home was - shh I know this is a secret - he isn't nearly as serious as he seems. It didn't take long to get included in the fun, laughter, goofiness, and joy that Andrew brings to every day life - a God send to this often too serious girl that I am. Over the past whiles, we have been on back packing trips, repelled a canyon, made it through three seasons of Stranger Things, learned, grown, laughed, cried, and done every day sorts of things- all together. And on June 29, 2019, Andrew knelt down on the beach of Lake Huron and asked me to marry him. I said yes. And I couldn't be more excited to get to do it all together with him - life, family, loving, fun, adventures, and trials. We got this - TOGETHER!
This all started through a simple comment on an Instagram story which involved a memory from Anna from the summer before when she was attending a Summer Training Program with the Navigators. I had wanted to see if a picture she posted was from the area surrounding the YMCA of the Rockies - where the program took place- and to strike up a conversation with Anna, who I had noticed around NAV night and had been on the NAV night set-up crew with. After that comment on the post, it quickly turned into wanting to hang out to show her some pictures of adventures I had gone on and to get to know Anna. We settled on meeting at a coffee shop like 10 days after that first message was sent. From there we spent whatever time we could find going hammocking in Palmer Park and going for walks even when it was 10 o'clock at night. Then one night, after I had met her entire family and a few of her friends, we sat around a campfire in her backyard and confessed that we each liked the other. About a week later I sat her down and officially asked her to be my girlfriend. To which she obviously said yes. Shortly thereafter we began a period of a long-distance relationship. For the first few weeks I was only a few hours away in Granby, Colorado at the Summer Training Program where she would come visit me. Then in July she left for a six-month discipleship training school which was definitely a transition. We spent hours every day calling each other and facetiming. Then, at the end of August she decided that she had had enough of training school and was coming home- taking a six-month trip and turning it into a little less than two. Let’s just say I was stoked. I was finally able to do life with Anna in the same state and this is when our relationship really started to blossom, and Anna was exposed to my true ‘weirdness’ as she says. From there we continued growing together and have arrived to where we are today, getting married on the last day of the year.
