Proposal Story

07.24.2020

.Allan and I have always been adventurers, so it was no surprise when he suggested a hike on July 24th, even though it looked like it was going to be a rainy day. We put our boots on and headed to the trailhead for a hike up Kendrick Peak. There had been a fire in the woods the trail went through in the past, and the forest was just starting to regenerate. Wildflowers were in full bloom, and hummingbirds had noticed-- hundreds were flying all around us as we hiked up the mountain. Despite the forecast, we were followed by a pocket of sunshine throughout our hike. Eventually, we made our way up thousands of feet to the summit. I went out to enjoy the view and heard Allan say my name. When I turned around, he was on one knee. It was the happiest moment of my life! - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Anna never saw it coming! Kendrick Peak is a spectacular place, full of life and sweeping vistas and the perfect place to ask the woman I love to marry me. The peak sits at 10,425 feet of elevation, and Anna had recently come from Birmingham, near sea level. I hoped the euphoria of high altitude combined with a sparkly diamond ring would be enough to make her say yes, and I think it worked! All jokes aside, I will never forget the look on her face when she turned around, or the feeling I got deep down when she said yes. We employed Advanced Self Timer photography to capture the moment, and I think the pictures speak for themselves. I thank God for how perfectly everything went, and for Anna.
