Adam and Anna met on Thursday, January 18th, 2018 at a weekly young adult gathering at Pine Hills Church in Fort Wayne. Anna had attended the group since it had first begun several months before, but on January 18th, a new face showed up. They didn't get much of a chance to speak on that day, but on the following Thursday they were able to not only talk, but to pray together. In that moment they both saw one another's love for the Lord, and they suspected that their lives might not ever be the same. They spent the next three months getting to know each other, at first almost exclusively on Thursday nights, but eventually through hours upon hours of phone conversations and late nights spent talking, laughing, and pursuing one another's hearts. They went on their first date on Saturday, April 28th at the Moose Lake Restaurant, and that evening they discussed openly for the first time their desire to be in a relationship with each other. The following weekend, Anna left to work for five months in Glacier National Park in Montana. With no cell signal and little to no internet in the park, it made for a very difficult long-distance relationship, consisting mainly of letters and periodic phone calls. It was a time of testing, during which they both grew in faith, patience, forgiveness, grace, and understanding. They continued to pursue each other's hearts, and they learned what it is to love selflessly through pain and hardship. It was a season of trial-by-fire. (Quite literally, there was a massive forest fire and Anna was evacuated and came home over a month early!) Upon her return, Anna and Adam wasted no time diving headfirst into learning to love and serve one another well. Then, on January 1st, 2019, Adam asked Anna to be his wife, at the same park bench on which he had first told her he loved her. She said yes with all joy, and on July 27th, 2019 they will seal in the sight of God their commitment to love and serve one another for the rest of their lives.
