Anna & Eric first met on a trip with Carolina Eats, a food-focused club started by their friend Maddy. Maddy brought Eric along even though he wasn't technically in the club. They didn't speak much on that trip, but later saw each other on the corner of Rosemary and Columbia in Chapel Hill. Eric correctly identified Anna's Japanese Maple leaf earrings and the two started dating very soon after. During a brief intermission, Anna sold everything and booked a one-way ticket to New York. Eric moved to Seattle for a job shortly thereafter. Right before a trip to Seattle to see her recently-relocated family for the holidays, Eric reached out to plan a reunion. That night they shared a few slices of pie at Pie Bar, strolled the streets of Capitol Hill, and talked until the wee hours of the morning. They continued their coast-to-coast romance until Eric moved to New York in July of 2019. In 2021, they moved into their current apartment in Brooklyn. In the summer of 2023, while on a trip to Seattle, Eric, his brother John, Anna's sister Rachel, and good friend Hannah recreated some memorable moments from the early days of their long-distance chapter, with a stroll through photos posted along the street where his apartment used to be in Capitol Hill. The stroll ended with a perfect hilltop proposal (and acceptance), and the two were betrothed. Passing minstrels played a nice tune, John and Rachel emerged from the bushes, they snapped some pictures, and then all headed to Pie Bar. The photo below was taken on that joyous day.
