We met while working as tour guides at Boston University, and hit it off as friends quickly. We bantered back and forth for the whole summer, and kept hanging out when the school year started. In what was in hindsight a warning that Anna ignored, Peter asked her to spend Saturday morning on a seven-mile-long walk through Boston and Cambridge. As Anna spent the morning trying to figure out what a person wears on a "walking date," Peter was on a morning jog when he was run over by a cyclist. Unable to find a doctor's office open on the weekend, Peter went to the ER and showed up to their first date an hour late with a broken nose but a decent excuse. Despite Peter's broken nose and Anna's foot-ache, the date was a complete success. After six years and many other lovely moments together, we can't wait to say "I do" in front of all of you.
We got engaged at El Yunque National Forest, a mountainous tropical rainforest in Puerto Rico. Peter knew he was going to ask the big question that day, but wanted to pick a natural moment and do it when it felt right. We stopped at a beautiful man-made pool with a waterfall, and were the only ones there except for a family making their way toward our spot. "Let's ask them to take our picture," Peter said knowingly. While he waited for the family to get closer, Peter glanced at a nearby plaque that told the history of the pool, including its name: "El Baño Grande." Oh. Well, too late now. Anna went to ask the family's teenage son, who was wearing headphones and seemed barely aware where he was, to take the picture, before Peter intervened and asked the mom instead. Instead of posing together, Peter got down on one knee and pulled out the ring, making Anna screamed in surprise before saying "yes." The mom ended up being a great choice as she took many pictures chronicling the emotional moment, which Anna was very grateful for. We celebrated that night in a traditionally Caribbean way with a whole fried fish in a local fishing town, overlooking the beach.
