What’s the dress code?

Answer

We recommend wearing what makes you feel good and something you can dance in. It may be wise to have an extra layer for the outdoor ceremony in case it’s a chilly fall day.

Will the Ceremony and Reception be inside or outside?

Answer

The ceremony will take place outside and the cocktail hour and reception will be inside the lodge.

Where should I go for the ceremony?

Answer

Rain or shine head to the main lodge lobby! Someone will direct you on where to go depending on weather.

What other hotel rooms are available for the weekend?

Answer

We strongly recommend you stay at Sugar Lake Lodge, but if you prefer to stay in Grand Rapids, there are a couple good options. There is a Best Western, Timberlake Lodge, Country Inn & Suites, and more. Please note, no room blocks are available at the listed locations.

Are kids allowed?

We love the kiddos! Unfortunately, due to capacity limits, only the children of Skemp and Anderson families are invited. We understand that arrangements may be hard to make and apologize for the inconvenience. If you have questions or concerns, please reach out to us as soon as possible.

When should I arrive for the wedding?

Answer

Sugar Lake Lodge does have a 2-night minimum. We appreciate your ability to travel to the lodge on Friday night. We hope you can join us for our Pre-Party at Sugar Lake Lodge. There will be ice cream, bonfires, yard games, and more!

What should I do if I can’t make it?

We are sorry your aren’t able to join us and will miss you! Please RSVP “no” on our website under the RSVP tab.

What’s Open at Sugar Lake Lodge?

Answer

Great question! Sugar Lake Lodge is technically out-of-season during our big weekend, but there’s a lot of great amenities still open, including the swimming pool. The resort’s restaurant, Otis’ Bar & Grill, will be closed for lunch and dinner throughout the weekend. Kitchenettes are located in the townhomes and main lodge suites, please supply your own lunch or snack items! Continental breakfast will be provided in Friday- Sunday. A continental breakfast will be available in the main lodge Friday - Sunday.
