Braden and I met in May of 2017. We didn't go on our official first date until a month after meeting each other. In the meantime, we talked on the phone almost daily. We would have hour long conversations and they only felt like a few minutes had went by. Our conversations flowed so easily. We decided that we got along so well that we should meet up and see if our connection was as strong as it was in person. At the time, I lived in an apartment directly across from Rhombus Guys pizza in Grand Forks. Braden picked me up outside of my apartment and we walked to Rhombus Guys together. I think we sat in a booth talking for a least 45 minutes before we finally ordered food. The waitress kept coming by asking if we were ready to order yet, and we would apologize for not looking at the menu yet, but we were having such a great conversation we didn't want to stop. We eventually agreed on a pizza and ordered. We continued to have a great conversation and I think we only both ate one slice of pizza (that has definitely changed over the years!). We have enjoyed many slices of pizza since then, and we can't wait to enjoy some more on the night of our wedding!
One of my close friends, Brenny, had mentioned that she could take family pictures of Braden, myself, and Theo for our 2019 Christmas cards. Braden reached out to Brenny and asked if she would be part of the proposal plan and take pictures as Braden asked me to marry him. Braden and I followed Brenny, to a spot to start our pictures. We started with taking pictures with Theo and were having a great time. Brenny then asked Braden to take Theo back to the pickup and asked if I wanted to get a couple pictures of just us two. Braden came back and we were standing next to each other taking pictures. Brenny then asked us what pose we wanted to do next, I looked and Braden and laughed because we are so awkward when getting pictures taken that I didn't know what "pose" to do. At that moment, Braden then got down on one knee. I immediately went numb and didn't know if he was being serious. The first thing that came out of my mouth was, "did you ask my dad???". I then of course said, "YES".
