Things To Do

Old Town Lafayette

Old Town Lafayette

206 S Public Road, Lafayette, CO 80026

We have had a lot of fun exploring Old Town Lafayette since moving into our first home together. Some of our favorite places are Community Supper Club (delicious food and shared plates), East Simpson Coffee (great coffee and breakfast sandwiches), Foxglove Bar and Hideout (cocktail garden - they also have great N/A drinks), and the Read Queen Bookstore. Honorable mentions are Pho Cafe, Bees Thai Kitchen, Ras Kassas (Ethiopian), and the Post Chicken and Beer.

Waneka Lake Trail

Waneka Lake Trail

Waneka Lake Trail, Lafayette, CO 80026

Waneka Lake is Tuna's favorite walk in Lafayette, and she pulls us in this direction every chance she gets! Waneka Lake is a lovely 1.2 mile loop close to the wedding venue, with pretty mountain views and great bird watching. If you have time for a nice nature walk, Tuna recommends that you check this place out.

Pearl Street Mall

Pearl Street Mall

1303 Pearl Street, Boulder, CO 80302

Pearl Street Mall is the heart of downtown Boulder where several of our favorite restaurants, bars, and shops live. We've celebrated almost a decade of birthdays, anniversaries, and other special milestones in life with friends and family here. Consider grabbing a drink or bite to eat at Avanti's rooftop bar (Anjie, Alyssa and Mack pictured here above), a late night sushi happy hour at Hapa, brunch at Lucile's Creole Cafe, a drink at License No. 1 (bar in the basement of Hotel Boulderado), or a tiki-themed cocktail at the Jungle ( they also make an amazing fried chicken sandwich). Honorable mentions include the Boulder Bookstore, Laughing Goat Coffee, Bohemian Biergarten, and Sushi Zanmai.

Chautauqua Park

Chautauqua Park

9th Street, Boulder, CO 80302

Chautauqua Park is a gorgeous National Historic Landmark in Boulder where you can access a number of trails (varying in lengths and difficulty level). In the late 1800s, Boulder purchased 80 acres of land to be used for a "Chautauqua" - a cultural and educational movement. We've had many of our relationship milestones at the various trails here! Our first date was at Royal Arch trail, and we got engaged at the top of Bear Peak. You can also get to the famous Flatirons trail from here. Check out the Alltrails link below to decide which hike is a good fit for you.

Coot Lake / Boulder Reservoir

Coot Lake / Boulder Reservoir

6180 North 63rd Street, Boulder, CO 80301

Coot Lake / Boulder Reservoir might just be Tuna's favorite place. Coot Lake is about a 20 minute drive from Lafayette and about a 15 minute drive from Boulder, and there's plenty of parking across the street at Tom Watson Park. Consider grabbing a beer at Avery Brewing nearby (another of our first date locations).

Rocky Mountain National Park

Rocky Mountain National Park

Estes Park, CO

Consider a visit to our favorite National Park! About an hour north of Boulder and Lafayette, Rocky Mountain National Park is a great place to see stunning mountain views as well as the aspen trees in their fall glory. The aspens generally turn yellow in late September and early October, so you might still be able peep some leaves while you're in town. Nearby Estes Park is also a great spot for a bite to eat, and has many beautiful and accessible hiking trails and lakes outside of the National Park if you're unable to get a timed entry (see note below). NOTE: Timed Entry Reservations are needed to enter RMNP between the hours of 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. through October 13, 2025. Timed Entry+ Bear Lake Road Reservations are needed to enter the Bear Lake Road Corridor (where the popular Lake Haiyaha and Emerald Lake trailheads are located) between the hours of 5 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily through October 19, 2025. Check the link for more details and to make a reservation for timed entry, if needed.

Denver Art Museum

100 West 14th Avenue Parkway, Denver, CO 80204

The Denver Art Museum currently has a lot of really beautiful and interesting exhibits. Worth a stop if you're planning to spend some time in Denver!
