We met in May of 2022 at a helibase in Prescott, AZ. Nate was managing the helicopter that Anjas's dad (Marco) was flying when she came for a visit. Later that year, we reconnected and went for a hike at South Mountain for our first date. From that day on, we knew we were perfect for each other. We even took a photo on that first date to "show our kids one day". (Nates suggestion)
Up North to cooler weather, the RZR, woods, nature, a drive up to a lake, lunch in a small town, a paddle board sesh canceled by wind, and a nap in the hammock. A little before our engagement, Nate had asked Anja what she would want in a proposal. The answer being "nothing fancy, I guess just something that's special for you and I. A few weeks later, we went up North for a few days. The original plan was to go for a ride, drive up to the lake, and then paddle board. Nates plan was to propose on the paddle boards. However, the paddle boarding plans changed when we arrived and saw the trees along the river doing backbends. Nate went to evaluate the situation and asked “what do you think?” Convinced we would be blown up to Canada if we went, Anja thought it would probably be best if we went another weekend. After the 3rd time he asked "are you sure?" She quickly realized he was pretty bummed but she still hadn't caught on. “Lets plan to go next weekend somewhere, maybe we should set up the hammock and take a little power nap before driving home instead.” Little did she know that nap in a hammock is a story she would tell for the rest of her life. Prior to that day, Anja was convinced the best way to wake up was to a meal that is all ready. However, she now truly knows it's waking up from a nap and getting to say the easiest “yes” to spending forever with her favorite person. Though Nate says his plan was ruined by the weather, Anja could not think of a more special day and moment filled with all the things we love doing together. We're so excited to celebrate this next chapter in our lives with you. See you in March!
