Thiruvananthapuram

Kovalam Beach

Kanakakkunnu Palace + Napier Museum

One of the last architectural vestiges of the colonial era in the city. Good for an easy stroll, photos, and evening cultural events when something is on, it is also near the Napier Museum, an beautiful art and natural history museum

Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple

The city’s signature landmark and one of Kerala’s most important temples. Note that entry rules and dress codes are strict, and non-Hindus are generally not allowed inside the temple sanctum/complex areas. Still worth a see from the outside. Do check out the Methan Mani, a 19th century cuckoo clock tower in it's eastern entrance

Ponmudi Hill Station

A hill-station day trip for fans of a trek with cooler air, greenery, winding roads, and views. Best started early in the morning. Sidenote: In case of heavy rains, while the views are magical, trekking might be difficult, and might be temporarily closed off, so call ahead.

Jatayu Mangalam

While not in Trivandrum, this national park with the world's largest bird sculpture is a worthwhile half-day trip.

Varkala Beach

Not exactly in Trivandrum city, but a strong day-trip or overnight option. Cliffs, cafes, beach, and a more backpacker/coastal vibe.

Kuthira Malika Palace

Right near Padmanabhaswamy Temple, this is a great add-on for architecture, royal history, and old Travancore atmosphere. Famous for its 122 carved wooden horses

Good low-effort options for families, boating, backwater views, and a relaxed afternoon.
