Satyanarayan Pooja

10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Sri Bhaktha Anjaneya Temple
4143 Ayodhya Way, Ijamsville, MD 21754

Temple Attire (Semi-formal): Dresses w/ shoulders covered, suits, sarees, kurtas

Come celebrate our union with a Hindu prayer (Pooja) to Lord Satyanarayan (a manifestation of Lord Vishnu). Lord Satyanarayan, one of the principal deities of Hinduism, symbolizes eternal truth and the Pooja involves the practice of truthfulness, which is considered a chief pillar that supports Dharma. Dharma, in Hinduism, is one of the aims of life. It is the set of behaviors that are considered to be in accord with the order that makes life and universe possible. It includes duties, rights, laws, conduct, virtues and morals. Peace and happiness flow from truthfulness, and adversity and misfortune arise when people indulge in falsehood and deception and incur negative karma. The ritual by itself does not solve problems and get rid of obstacles, instead it encourages everyone to develop respect for truth and practice truthfulness in their daily lives. Feel free to come and go throughout the approximately 2 hour ceremony. Light fare from the temple will be served.
