Our History It all began during my first year away to Lafayette for college. I came home for the weekend where Jay and I met through a mutual acquaintance. We clicked instantly, becoming an official couple fairly soon. November 6th, 2010 to be exact. Initially (and still to this day), Jay and I often enjoy going on outings together, or just spending time enjoying each other’s company. I find that Jay’s mild temperament helps to keep me grounded. Fast forwarding to 2012, Jay and I received the news that we were going to become parents! On October 12th of that year, the day of baby’s arrival came. Jay tried his best to comfort me, holding my stomach like a basketball, and telling me that they were going to put cheesecake in my IV lol! Finally, at 1:02pm, our 6lbs. 12 oz., 19 1/2 in. healthy Jayla Brielle was born. The Proposal September 22, 2017, leaving work, I found a note taped to the steering wheel: “Your gift is at home, but you have to go straight home.” I flew home so fast! Upon arriving I found a card and another note on the bar with more instructions. It was a scavenger hunt! Documenting my journey on Facebook live, I was led to my mom’s house where I was greeted with a final note that read “Will You Marry Me?” and a roar of “SURPRISE! from family and friends. “Heeeyyy” exclaims Jay, as he’s walking towards me. I was stunned. He grabbed my hand, walked me near the final note, and got down on one knee. “It’s been 7 years now”, he started, but I was so ecstatic that I exclaimed “YES!” before he could even finish! As he professed his love for me, he concluded with the question “Will you marry me?”. “YES! Yes!” I yelped, as he slid the most gorgeous gold ring on my finger. Tears fell as I grabbed his neck, and the rest is history! “He who finds a wife finds what is good and receives favor from the Lord” Proverbs 18:22 ❤️
