St. Thomas has beautiful beaches, lush jungle and fun food / nightlife options. Red Hook and the other beaches east of Charlotte Amalie have many restaurants and bars. Red Hook is also where you can catch the ferry to other islands or downtown Charlotte Amalie. You can also catch a taxi to the airport easily from the ferry station in Charlotte Amalie. Local taxis are typically $12/person vans that can be shared or taken privately. Rides from Red Hook to the airport are typically $80 flat or $15/person if you share with others and fill the van. Drivers accept cash and sometimes Venmo. Ask your driver if they have a card so you can use them again outside of airport transport if needed. Note there’s no Uber or Lyft on the island.
The ferry ride from St. Thomas to St. John is about ~20 min and a round trip ticket is ~$15. If you plan to leave the Cruz Bay Area or are staying the night on St. John, we recommend renting a Jeep from one of the local companies to get around, otherwise taxis are the way to travel. The US Virgin Islands National Park consumes most of the island and the beaches are stunning. We highly recommend going, even if just for the day. https://www.stjohncarrental.com/jeep-rental/ https://stjohn-beachguide.com/10-best-st-john-beaches/
