We were in the same homeroom our first year of middle school. I always remember noticing him as he had me beat in the "how many states have you visited" question (20 vs 6), and of course I was jealous. He stands firm that he didn't notice me until 7th grade.
Justin (Best Man) would make fun of me for being "emo." At one point Holdon joined in and that is his first memory of me.
This year was when we really became friends. We had multiple classes together and our last names being close together in the alphabet allowed us to talk to each other a lot more. This was the year Holdon was told he was expecting a baby sister (Kimber) and I was one of the first people he told. The school took the top students to Schlitterbahn water park at the end of the year- we spent the whole day together and the bus ride back having so much fun.
My friend and I went to the Homecoming Dance together- we ended up spending the rest of the night with Holdon. Holdon says this is when he developed feelings for me because I slow danced with him.
We finally got together February 10th, 2017, after our first official date hanging out at McKelvy Park and getting dinner at Chick-Fil-A
Holdon went to Texas A&M in College Station while I went to The University of Iowa. Four and a half years, states apart was very hard, but we texted constantly and had FaceTime dates where we'd watch movies by pressing play on the same time on our respective devices.
Once we were both out of school, Holdon was able to find a job in Houston. He moved into the RV and got settled. A month later, I moved up to finally end the agony of long distance.
Holdon took me on a double date to the Color Factory and proposed in one of the most magical ways. Of course, I said yes.
