It's the largest open-air shopping mall in the U.S., with everything from high-end brands and local boutiques to a great food court and restaurants. It's also super close to Waikīkī, making it an easy place to grab a bite, pick up essentials, or do a little souvenir shopping.

Since 1979, the Aloha Stadium Swap Meet has become Hawaii’s premier outdoor market, featuring over 400 vendors, crafters, artists from all over the world, a true melting pot of Aloha. This is Anika and AJ's favorite place for souvenirs! Note: Only open on Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday. About a 30 minute drive from Waikiki.
A local favorite for a reason- Island Vintage Coffee serves up amazing Kona coffee, açaí bowls, and breakfast plates with a Hawaiian twist. It’s perfect for a relaxed morning or mid-day pick-me-up, and there are locations in both the Royal Hawaiian Center and Ala Moana. The lattes and poke bowls are also surprisingly great! This is Anika's top go-to spot when she is back in Hawaii!
A Honolulu classic, Liliha Bakery is famous for its fluffy coco puffs, rich cakes, and hearty breakfast plates. It’s the perfect spot to grab a sweet treat or a comforting local meal whenever you’re craving something delicious! AJ's favorite is the poi donuts and Anika's favorite is the coco puffs!
Zippy’s is a true Hawaii staple- part diner, part local comfort food spot. It’s the go-to place for everything from chili and saimin to loco mocos and plate lunches. Casual, affordable, and open late, it’s perfect for a quick bite or a low-key meal after a long beach day. There are several locations around the island, including one not far from Waikiki. Don't miss out on the chili, AJ's favorite!
ABC Stores are everywhere in Hawaii and are super convenient for grabbing snacks, drinks, sunscreen, souvenirs, and even quick meals. They’re perfect for last-minute essentials/snacks before hitting the beach or a quick pit stop while exploring. You’ll find them all over Waikiki and around the island! Try the spam musubis if you get a chance!
Lanikai is a stunning, quieter beach with soft white sand and clear turquoise water- perfect for a relaxing day away from the crowds. It’s about a 30–40 minute drive from Waikiki in the town of Kailua. Heads up: parking is super limited in the neighborhood, so go early if you can!
If you’re up for a short, easy hike through lush rainforest, Manoa Falls Trail is a great choice. It’s about a 1.5-mile round trip that ends at a beautiful 150-foot waterfall. The trail can get muddy, so wear good shoes- and don’t forget your camera for some amazing tropical views! Note: Parking can be limited, especially on weekends, so arriving early is your best bet.
This easy, paved hike offers stunning views of the southeastern coast of Oʻahu and the iconic Makapuʻu Lighthouse. It’s about 2 miles round trip- perfect for a morning walk or a scenic outing. The trail is family-friendly, and the views at the top are absolutely worth it! Note: Parking is available at the trailhead but can fill up quickly, so try to arrive early to secure a spot.
