We're Getting Married!

Anika and Justin matched on Bumble in December 2020 while Anika was back early from her semester at Syracuse. After many dates throughout the month, they officially started dating on New Years Day 2021. What followed was 2.5 years of traveling back and forth between Austin and Syracuse, summer days downtown, and a semester abroad in Edinburgh, Scotland. After they both graduated from college in 2023, they started their life in Dallas and adopted their first cat June. After a year in Dallas, they set their sights on Salt Lake City, where they then adopted their second cat Calcifer and have been enjoying the mountains ever since.

What started as a short weekend getaway to celebrate Anika's 25th birthday, turned into moment they could never forget. After two days filled with lakeside runs and cozy A-frame cabin nights, they planned to cap off their trip with a scenic sunset at Sand Harbor State Park. Justin guided Anika to a beautiful beach lookout point where once again they were swept up with the beauty of Lake Tahoe. As they stood in awe, a "stranger" passed by and offered to take their photo by the water. In a stroke of pure genius, Justin pointed towards the water and asked Anika "what's that over there?" As she started, she turned back confused. Justin was suddenly on one knee and immediately the tears began to flow. Months of planning culminated for this one moment. As the tears turned to smiles, the couple took photos before enjoying drinks and debriefing the proposal. They capped off the night with a beautiful dinner at a log cabin with champagne sponsored by Anika's closest friends.
