Our Story

The Wedding Website of Annika Pearson and Tanner Munson
We met at The Basic School, a 6 month school for Marine Officers, in Quantico, Virginia in 2019, and both received orders to Japan in spring 2020. Our arrival in Okinawa coincided with a travel pause due to Covid, and so we dated on a small tropical island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean for 2 years alongside friends who supported us and shared this sweet season with us. Our families got to know our future spouse mostly over zoom, until we were able to return in the summer of 2022 to meet our families in Wisconsin and Utah. We were engaged on July 2nd during our first trip back to US together since moving to Japan in September of 2020. We will be getting married on July 3rd, 2023 in Kyoto, Japan, and will be back in the US in August to celebrate our marriage with friends and family before returning to Okinawa for another year. We have greatly appreciated your prayers and support, and cannot wait to be together with you in August.
