How do I apply for the Visa?

Answer

If you have not applied for your Visa yet, please go ahead and do so. For US citizens, online application is simple and typically approved within 5 days. Here is the link to apply for the Visa. https://evisa.gov.vn/

What is the Weather like?

Answer

Tropical! We expect clear skies with 75-85F depending on the time of the day but please check the weather forecast beforehand. Do not forget your swimsuits!!

Currency? How much cash to bring?

Answer

We suggesting bringing USD from the states. Upon your arrival, we will take a trip to the bank for currency exchange. In general, we think that $1000/week should go a long way (transportation, food, excursions, and some gifts) . We will help you convert the rest back to USD at the end of the trip.

Can I rent a car/drive in Vietnam?

Answer

We recommend that you do not rent a car and instead use one of the 2 main transportation services below (equivalent of Uber/Lyft). Both services allow you to add your card and pay via the app. You can also opt to pay with cash. 1. Xanh SM (recommended): Pros - electric cars, nicer, cleaner, and less surge price. Cons - not as many cars as Grab 2. Grab: they have been around for longer and are well known in other South East Asian countries.

Bring your personal medications. Vietnamese pharmacies will not have the same medications you get in the US.

Answer

There are lots of little shops in Hoi An to get Banh Mi, Coffee, Juice, etc.

Electric Outlets?

Answer

You will need to bring a converter. Type A, C and D. The standard voltage is 110 / 220 V at a frequency of 50 Hz. We recommend leaving electronics at home (except for phone and laptop chargers).

Water Cleanliness?

Answer

Please drink bottled/filtered/boiled water. Tap water is not safe to drink.

Wifi/Internet?

Answer

We would recommend that you purchase an international package with your service provider for overseas use. Wifi isn't provided everywhere and, when it is, it can be pretty slow.

What to bring?

Answer

Passport, visa, medications, bug spray, swimsuit, flip-flops/sandals, sun glasses, sunscreen, a hat, portable charger, and always have cash!
