Each person we have invited will be named on an invitation. There are lots more people we'd have loved to invite, but unfortunately we are space-constrained at the reception.
See the travel section of this website for a few hotels where we have negotiated rates / discounts. We've been able to visit each of these hotels in person, and they are quite nice and affordable, with convenient spaces for gathering. Or, if you want something a little different, anywhere in the downtown Grand Rapids area could work well. There are hotels closer to the airport that may be a little cheaper, but keep in mind that will be a longer drive / Uber to the festivities.
For ladies— wearing a traditional ao dai is completely optional. If you would like to purchase one for the ceremony, I recommend checking out Cute Sass or Etsy, where they typically range from $30-$50 per set. Please avoid white and red sets. If you prefer not to wear an ao dai, you are welcome to simply wear your reception dress instead.
Very optional. Ubers in Grand Rapids are fairly cheap and convenient, so having a car is nice but not strictly necessary. For those planning on drinking at the reception, either a DD or an Uber is required (though feel free to drive in and park your car overnight. It just needs to be picked up from the Goei Center by 10AM on Sunday).
For the reception on Saturday, we've got a caterer coming all the way from California to serve a traditional Chinese / Vietnamese family style course meal. Come hungry! Please fill out the dietary restrictions section in our RSVP form so we can make accommodations.
Sure will :) Drinks are on us! Please remember to bring a valid ID with you.
Many of you already know - we like STUFF. Our apartment is full of things we cherish and love, and which bring us (and hopefully those around us) joy! Unfortunately, just two weeks before our wedding, we’ll be moving all of our belongings from Philly into a storage unit in Chicago. As a result, we won’t have a permanent address until after we return from the honeymoon. We don't really know what will fit in our next apartment, and don't have a great place to stash things for the weeks or months before we settle down (Jacob's job won't start till September). For this reason, our registry skews towards intangible splurges and experiences. Of course, if you find the perfect something or have a special talent to share, that means the world to us as well. We know it's a long way for many of you to travel, so the very best gift you can give us is to come and party with us on our wedding day :).
