In November 2024, we headed to the Holiday Lights Festival in Chickasha, Oklahoma—a beloved tradition from Heather’s childhood and a first-time experience for Angus. Before heading south, we grabbed a casual dinner at Sonic and enjoyed hot dogs, tots, and a chocolate shake in the car. As we walked hand-in-hand around the lake, we came across a light installation featuring a glowing ring and the words “Will you marry me?” Angus stopped in front of it, dropped to one knee, and proposed. It was a perfect blend of nostalgia, joy, and love—serving as an unforgettable memory under the holiday lights.

We first connected on eharmony on May 14, 2022, when Heather sent Angus an icebreaker consisting of five juxtaposed images. Angus chose the mountain image, while Heather picked the beach—an early sign of our shared love for nature. Angus messaged back, noting that mountains are harder to get to in Australia than beaches. However, he also mentioned his love for the beach, sparking a natural and easy conversation. That connection led to our first meeting in Vancouver, Canada, that October, where we celebrated Canadian Thanksgiving together. It was our first shared holiday and the beginning of many more to come!
