Maika and Angie met through mutual friends (shoutout to Filipino Student Association) while attending UT Dallas. On November 3, 2014, a friend of Angie's asked her to print and turn in an assignment for him as he was snowed in at home and could not make it to campus. Angie, being the lost freshman and not knowing where to print things, asked the table of FSA friends she was with if anyone could help. Maika offered, and the two of us walked around the entire campus to find free printing. After turning in the friend's assignment, UTD cancelled classes due to an incoming snowstorm. Angie wanted to make sure that Maika got home safely, so she asked for his number (yes, Angie made the first move) and asked him to text her when he got home. After that night, the two didn't talk much for the next four months.

Maika and Angie began to talk again during spring break of 2015 and went on their first date at Buffalo Wild Wings in Garland at the end of March. After that, they went out on more and more lunch, dinner, movie, and boba dates. On April 25, a mutual friend asked them if they were dating. Maika and Angie looked at each other, and although Angie didn't know how to respond, Maika said, "Yeah, we are!", and with that, their relationship began.

This was a super eventful day. It was 11:30PM and Maika and Angie had just gotten back to Maika's apartment after spending the whole day at the car dealership getting him a new truck (two big moves that day, how crazy!). Angie was about to head home, but when she started packing up her things, Maika asks, "Do you want your birthday present now or later?" Angie's birthday was 10 days away. She told him, "Up to you...?", but then he kept asking when she wanted it, so she gave in and said now. Then he asked if she wanted to get the present or wanted him to go get it. Angie, knowing something was up, asked him to go get it. He told her to close her eyes, and when she opened them, Maika was on one knee and asked her to marry him. It was the sweetest night ever, just the two of them, celebrating their engagement!
