Greetings, family and friends! After two delays, we can’t wait to celebrate our wedding day with you. Come ready to have a good time, reconnect, and make new friends. Also, Labor Day weekend in the DMV (DC-Maryland-Virginia) area is a fun time! Check out the activity updates on the Things-To-Do page. Please note: We are concerned with the current Delta variant spread. Although the vaccination rate among adults in Howard County, Maryland, event location, is high (80%), and the wedding site has spacious areas to mingle comfortably, all guests must wear a mask for everyone’s safety unless eating/drinking. Outside spaces will be available for mask-free breaks. We have appreciated everyone’s love, prayers, and support. We truly believe that in this amazingly vast world, the Lord brought us together to journey through this life as a couple serving Him. In Him, our love is the perfect bond of unity. “We have known and have believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and those who remain in love remain in God and God remains in them.” 1 John 4:16 With Love, Mark and Angelyque
After meeting each other’s families and close friends and spending time together at church, and many phone calls and dates later, we were very sure of each other. We didn’t set out to go ring shopping one weekend in September. It just happened. Fast forward—one clear, crisp fall afternoon at the African-American Museum in DC, Mark managed to sneak the ring by me, thanks to the screeners who made him empty his pockets and then realized he was trying to hide the ring box from me. After being hustled along so I couldn’t see the what was going on behind me, we went on our way with me still oblivious to the ring box in Mark’s jacket pocket. First stop—the Café. Next stop—the Sports Gallery. While marveling over the sports legends and their stories, Mark and I walked into the section dedicated to the boxing greats. We were there by ourselves and then he took my hand and got down on one knee. I kept asking, “What are you doing”? because surely Mark was not about to propose to me in the room with ‘Beyond the Ring’ written on the wall. But, as I reflect on it now, it was the perfect line to symbolize how far we want to go on our journey together. Soon a group of young students on a field trip crowded around, saw us embrace, and figured I said yes. The cheers and hand claps were a nice touch. What an amazing day!
