FAQs

Question

What is the Chautauqua Institution?

Answer

The Chautauqua Institution is a nonprofit educational community on the shores of Lake Chautauqua in western New York, known for its summer programs in arts, education, religion, and recreation. It holds a special place in our hearts, as Angelina's family has spent summers there over July 4th for many years, making it the perfect setting for our celebration!

Question

Is there parking at the venue?

Answer

Yes, guests can park at the South Parking Lot located near the entrance of the Chautauqua Institution, and guests staying at the Athenaeum Hotel also have a valet parking option. The South Lot is a 5-minute walk from the Athenaeum Hotel. You may prefer to drop off your bags at the hotel first, then drive back to park, or have the valet handle parking for you. If you have any issues locating the South Lot, you can plug this address into Google Maps: South Lot, Mayville, NY 14757.

Question

How far is the ceremony location from the reception venue?

Answer

It is a 5-minute walk from the Hall of Philosophy to the Athenaeum Hotel. There will be a shuttle service provided for anyone needing extra assistance.

Question

Will events take place indoors or outdoors?

Answer

The ceremony will take place outside at the Hall of Philosophy, a Greek-inspired open-air covered venue within Chautauqua Institution. The welcome party and reception will be primarily indoors at the Athenaeum Hotel given it may be chilly in mid-October, with options to spend time outside on the beautiful Athenaeum Hotel front porch and lawn that look out at Chautauqua Lake. There will be heat lamps set up on the front porch and gas fire pits on the front lawn that guests can turn on.

Question

Can I bring a plus one?

Answer

Only if listed on the invitation and RSVP form. As much as we would love to welcome everyone who wants to celebrate our big day, we can only accommodate those listed on the RSVPs.

Question

How do I pronounce Chautauqua?!

Answer
