Hugli’s Blueberry Ranch & Country Market in Pembroke, Ontario is a family-run agri-tourism farm that opens for the season in May, making it a lovely spring outing. While blueberry picking hasn’t started yet, visitors can explore the country market filled with homemade blueberry products, baked goods, fudge, gifts, and local treats. May also brings the opening of spring farm activities, including outdoor play areas and friendly farm animals, all set against a relaxed countryside backdrop. It’s a great time to enjoy the fresh air, quieter atmosphere, and family-friendly charm before the busy summer season begins.
Chutes Coulonge
Parc des Chutes Coulonge in Mansfield-et-Pontefract, Quebec, Canada is a scenic natural and historic park centred around the dramatic 42-metre Coulonge Falls and the rugged gorge carved by the Coulonge River. The park celebrates both the natural beauty of the falls and the region’s logging history, with interpretive trails and exhibits that trace how log drivers once moved timber down the river. In May, the park is a perfect destination for a spring outdoor adventure. You can stroll along well-maintained walking paths through forest and riverside scenery to view the main falls and picnic areas. The historical self-guided trails let you explore at your own pace and learn about the log-driving era. Beyond hiking, Parc des Chutes Coulonge also offers more active attractions such as aerial adventure elements like treetop obstacle courses, giant canyon ziplines, and via ferrata experiences for thrill-seekers (availability and hours may vary, so it’s good to check ahead).
Down Town Pembroke
Downtown Pembroke is a charming riverside area that’s perfect for exploring at a relaxed pace, especially in the spring. In May, the streets come alive with local shops, cafés, and historic buildings, making it a great spot to wander, browse, and soak in the small-town atmosphere. Take time to explore my (Angelina’s) favorite places, including West on Main and The Picket Fence, two lovely shops that showcase local style, gifts, and home décor. When it’s time to eat, don’t miss my two favourite restaurants, The Courtyard Bistro and The Nook Creperie, both known for their cozy vibes and delicious food. Downtown Pembroke offers a warm mix of shopping, dining, and local charm, making it an ideal stop during a May visit.
