On April 14, 2018, Dominic and I unofficially met (more like saw) each other at what would be our future college, Dominican University of California in San Rafael, California. We were attending an event for incoming freshmen and crossed paths on Meadowlands Lawn participating in a game called "Ice Breaker Bingo." The intention was to talk to other freshmen and get to know one another. Unknowingly at the time, we briefly made eye contact and I remember thinking in my head, "No, I do not want to talk to this guy." Of course, little did I know that he was my soulmate. As the school year began, Dominic and I ended up crossing paths again as we were in the same nursing program and cohort. We often saw each other in many classes, but rarely interacted. Until one day in March of 2019, two mutual friends of ours officially introduced Dominic to me at the school gym. I was working out next to my friend when Dominic came by, smiled, and said hello to me. I smiled back and my friend next to me said, "Dominic thinks you're cute." I remember laughing and did think much of it at the time. Two weeks later, we had just started school again after finishing up spring break. I remember sitting in chemistry class, waiting for class to start, when Dominic walks in with a fresh hair cut. I literally thought to myself, "Oh my gosh, is that Dominic? No way, because he looks really cute!" On April 17, 2019, we went on our first date at what would become our favorite restaurant in San Rafael called Sol Food. I remember feeling super nervous when I was getting ready in my dorm room. I put on my best dress which was a white dress, straightened my hair, and put some mascara on. I felt very pretty and excited to see Dominic as I waited for him to come pick me up. When he knocked on the door, I opened it to see him holding a small, but dainty white flower. He told me that he had picked the flower from a bush and tucked it behind my right ear. In that one moment, he made me feel so beautiful. At the restaurant, he took a picture of me with the white flower in my hair and to this day, he has kept that picture saved as my contact photo in his phone. That first date was just the first of many to come and our newfound relationship only blossomed from there. On October 12, 2024, Dominic proposed to me at one of our favorite restaurants, Pietro's, in Lodi, California. Dominic and I have been together for over six beautiful, wild, and loving years, and I would not trade it for the world. On April 14, 2018, the beginning of mine and Dominic's story occurred on Meadowlands Lawn, so we only found it fitting for our forever to start on that same lawn on August 8, 2026. We are looking forward to sharing our big day with all our loved ones and most of all, we cannot wait to go back to the place our love story began.
