Travel & Stay

Our wedding will take place at The Island Art & Taste south of Athens (approximately 30 minute drive from the city center). We recommend staying in the city to get the most out of your stay; however, if you choose to stay closer to the venue, you can look at hotels near Vari or Vouliagmeni.

Travel Note

Getting Around

Public Transport Cabs are easy and available in Athens. Uber will connect you direct with cabbies in the city and is a convenient way to travel around town. The subway is also very easy to use and will take you to most locations within the city (but not to our venue). Rental Cars If you choose to rent a car and require automatic, ensure to include that in your request, as most car companies will default to manual. Note as well, that cars tend to be smaller than in the US, particularly in trunk space, so plan accordingly. Ferries Ferries to the islands are easy to book, and primarily leave from the port of Piraeus. Tickets can be purchased in advance on https://www.ferryhopper.com/en/.

Travel Note

Paying

Greece uses the Euro and most places tend to prefer cash. While most locations will accept major credit cards, if you travel out into the country, you would benefit from having some cash on hand. Tipping is not expected as part of the culture, but if you prefer to leave one, a couple Euro is customary even on large meal purchases.
