During sophomore year of high school, Nico and I were enrolled in a few classes together but we were complete strangers at the time. I sat in the back corner of the classroom while he was in the front and center. Much to my dismay, assigned groups were a common trend for this class. The teacher grouped me with three other classmates to collaborate on an in-class assignment. I recall letting out a long sigh, glimpsing at the clock to make sure I knew exactly how much time I had until class was dismissed. I preferred to work alone. I trudged to my new group members, paper and pencil in hand. Nico was in my group that day. Naturally, Nico cracked a few jokes and I acknowledged them, laughing at his spontaneity. Little did I know this small interaction would make an immense change in our lives.
