Sunset Cliffs
Drive, walk, or sit & admire the ocean views along these cliffs. Gorgeous during the day but just especially great at sunset. Bring a blanket and picnic. For sunset, plan to arrive early to find a parking spot.
Torrey Pines State Reserve

Point Loma Ecological Reserve
Walking/Hiking with ocean cliff views. There are tidepools! And this is dog friendly. Downside is it requires a national parks pass or you must pay a day-use fee to get in.
Balboa Park & Japanese Friendship Garden
Frank's workplace is in Balboa Park! How cool is that? HUGE park with different museums and gardens within. The Japanese Friendship Garden is a highlight, and the International Village is cool too.
Sea Lions at Children's Pool in La Jolla
Walk with ocean views and sea lions! They come up on the beach to catch some rays. Grab brunch nearby - it is a wonderful way to spend a few hours!

For the tree huggers - this is our favorite park to walk around in Mission Valley (where Frank used to live)
