It all started at Irvin Elementary, where a fourth-grade teacher with a big heart (and an even bigger to-do list) met a police officer who had just become the new school resource officer. Alyssa was busy handling her behavior students while Angel was just trying to determine which teachers were a Ms. or a Mrs.; Rule #1 according to his sergeant, DON'T DATE ANY TEACHERS. Somewhere between classroom chaos and hallway hellos, a connection started to grow. A message from Angel of a broken soccer goal on facebook turned into countless messages, a first date of a walk in the park followed by cookout to keep the date going, and the rest is history. Over the next six years, they built a life filled with laughter, love, and many stubborn debates. (They’ll both tell you they were right.) Through all the ups and downs, they always found their way back to each other and kept choosing love every single time. When Angel decided to propose, he planned everything down to the smallest detail. Well, almost all. In typical Angel fashion, he got the ring Tuesday and decided to propose that same weekend. After almost spoiling the surprise a few times throughout the week, he took Alyssa to her favorite vineyard. Surrounded by sunshine, grapevines, and of course the vineyard dog, he asked her to marry him. But not before making her incredible frustrated (again, see the stubborn debate comment above) and nervous with the comment of "we won't be dating anymore". It just so happened to be exactly six years to the day since they met, though Angel forgot and tried to argue that the day was not significant or it wasn't six years. What just so happened to be a coincidence turned into one of Alyssa's favorite parts of the proposal. Alyssa’s favorite memory together is a completely spontaneous trip to Washington, D.C. One night they just decided to go—no plans, no reservations, no color-coded schedule ( a true miracle) just the two of them and a sense of adventure. It was chaotic, unexpected, and absolutely perfect. As for Angel’s favorite memory, he loves the life they have built being pet parents together. From meeting their sweet "Kilo son" to falling madly in love with their rotten "Kaiya girly" unexpectedly. Meeting them, preparing for them to come home, being able to pick them up early; followed by countless hours of training, play time, and snuggles from their furry, four legged babies. Watching them grow, develop their own personalities, and learning how each other "parents" and compromising together makes Angel excited for the start of a family in the near future. Now, as they get ready to start the next chapter, Alyssa and Angel are excited to keep laughing, growing, and building a family together. They can’t wait for all the love, chaos, and adventure that forever will bring.
