Things To Do

Plumpton Park Zoo

Plumpton Park Zoo

1416 Telegraph Road, Rising Sun, MD 21911

Great zoo where you can feed the animals, and if you are lucky you can feed Jimmie the giraffe and his new girlfriend!

Woody's Crab House

29 South Main Street, North East, MD 21901
, (410) 287-3541

Great food! And check out all the cute little shops along Main Street. Antiques, boutiques, candy shops, etc.

Rise 'N Grind Cafe

8 East Main Street, Rising Sun, MD 21911

New coffee shop right on the rising sun square. They have great coffee, excellent food, and live music by local talent. Perfect little home town, community focused business.

Pizza Boy

38 Rising Sun Town Center, Rising Sun, MD 21911

You want pizza? Italian? Good food? Not too pricey? This is the place!

Riviera Maya

100 Ryan Drive, Rising Sun, MD 21911
, (410) 658-1655

The most authentic Mexican food you can get in the area. Really colorful interior and an outdoor deck if it is nice. Get a frozen margherita for me!

Turkey Point Lighthouse

Turkey Point Lighthouse Trail, North East, MD 21901

If you are up to a hike, this will be a great time of year to walk to the lighthouse and look over the top of the Chesapeake Bay. Watch the North East, Susquehanna, and Elk rivers merge to create the top of the bay. Bring water and your hiking shoes! And a camera 😊

Herr’s Snack Factory Tour

271 Old Baltimore Pike, Nottingham, PA 19362
, (800) 284-7488

This is such a cool experience if you have the time! You learn so much about the Herr’s company, how they make their foods, and you get fresh hot chips right off the line! If you want to do this, make sure to register on their website!

Lee's Landing Dock Bar

600 Rowland Drive, Port Deposit, MD 21904
, (443) 747-4006

For a nice day, take a short scenic drive along the Susquehanna River to Lee’s Lansing Dock Bar in Port Deposit! They have a great “boardwalk” and a deck to eat their amazing foods! Also a wonderful place to have a drink and watch the boats float by. Port Deposit is a very old little port town that is slowly coming back to it’s new “prime”. Many of the buildings are made of “Port Deposit granite” which was mined in the area heavily until it is no longer available. Also, the Fort McHenry Tunnels were made here and shipped down the Bay to Baltimore!

Union Hotel Restaurant

1282 Susquehanna River Road, Port Deposit, MD 21904
, (410) 378-3503

It will be October, so if you are looking for a hauntingly good time and some food, head to the Union Hotel for great food and a possible ghostly experience. Ask your server about any sightings they have had, and I am sure they will have a story or two fo

Kilby Cream

129 Strohmaier Lane, Rising Sun, MD 21911
, (410) 658-8874

This is a local dairy farm right near town, behind the baseball fields. They have great ice cream, fresh milk, cheese, and other dairy products straight from their farm! There is also a small “petting zoo” and a corn maze this time of year.
