Angie: My first year of school at UNC, I attended Fall Fest, the welcome event that kicks off each new year. I was told there would be free stuff, and who can turn down a free t-shirt? Gray: Meanwhile, I had reunited with my friend, Shrivar, that same day. At Fall Fest, we were almost to the food stations when he got a text from his friend, Angie, to come find her. Angie: When they made their way over, I thought he was cute and tall, with very pretty eyes. Gray: I thought she was pretty but she already had a strike against her for pulling me away from the food. Angie: For as often as he brings this up, I don’t think he’s ever going to forgive me. After that night, we continued to hang out in the same friend group, doing all the freshman welcome events. Gray: Surprise to me, she was in my Econ class. I didn’t know that the first week though, since she was always late. Angie: I didn’t want to pull out a map on campus, that would be an obvious freshman sign, so I just showed up 10 minutes late for the first week. Gray: More like 20 minutes. Fast forward through all the awkwardness and we started dating a couple months later. Angie: We spent most of our time together the next few years, making fun of each other in front of our friends, our parents, our cat, really anyone who would listen. Trailblazing life’s new experiences with each other in tow, we persevered together through graduation and into our young professional careers. Gray: We’ve grown a lot and learned from each other. Well, I’ve grown a lot, I think she’s still about five-foot three. Angie: And a quarter, it counts. Gray: The thing I love most about Angie is that no matter what, she’s my number one, she’s always in my corner. Angie: I have my best friend by my side and I know that, together, we can get through anything life throws our way. Gray: We may not have the corny love you read about in romance novels, but we know we have found our person.
