In the midst of Charlie's final year at CSU San Bernardino, he decided to participate further in the school's Catholic Newman Club, and arrived at their Newman Center to help the campus minister with an upcoming event. Little did he know that later that day he'd be tasked with giving a ride to a fellow Newman Club member, and eventually, proposing to her almost six years later. Through their shared faith and God's providence, they wound up spending more and more time around each other as helpers in their club, even beginning to develop feelings for each other in their annual fall retreat. While the 2020 lockdown caused a pause in further development, they still shared a club that would meet through Zoom and, as the restrictions eased, for the every-so-often delight of Korean Barbeque with their mutual Newman Club friends. It took almost three years before Charlie finally took a chance to ask Angela out... and she said no. But through prayer and a lot of thought, she eventually came around and realized what a great guy she'd be missing out on, so she called him up one day and asked him out. By October 9th, 2022, they were officially together - and here we are now.
Though Angela suspected a proposal was coming soon, she had doubts it would be at the top of Mount Rubidoux at sunrise. Still dark, they trekked up the hill until they found a beautiful viewpoint overlooking the city of Riverside. Charlie set up his phone to catch the perfect video of the sunrise, and an eventual proposal, with the glow of the morning sun behind them. In case you're wondering, she said yes!
