We Swiped Right to Forever

We swiped right on each other on Bumble (sponsor us, please). Andrew had only been on Bumble for three days when he came across my profile. I, on the other hand, had been on Bumble for far too long before finally swiping right on him on Thursday, November 19, 2020—the day before my birthday. We started chatting on my actual birthday, which immediately confused Andrew since my age had changed overnight. We messaged all day and made plans to meet on Sunday, November 22nd. It was mid-pandemic, so he made reservations at Jetty to see Ricky Roche perform. When I arrived at his place, I texted him to come out so we could walk over together. He came running out with wax all over his face—he’d just blown out a candle, and it splashed everywhere. He asked for a minute to clean up, and honestly, I already knew I liked him… because that’s exactly the kind of thing I would do. Our date lasted eight hours. We couldn’t stop talking or laughing. The very next night, we had dinner together—Andrew cooked chicken and quinoa (yes, really). Then we saw each other again the following night, and again that weekend. By the end of our first week, we’d already spent five out of seven days together. On December 6, 2020—just two weeks after we met—after a cozy night in with steaks and red wine, Andrew asked me to be his girlfriend. And almost four years later… he asked me to be his forever.
