We met in college at UVM and were friends at first. We had a lot in common, both being from the tristate area. We found that both enjoyed seeing live music, snowboarding, hiking, and spending lots of time with friends and family. After 3 years of friendship we started spending more time together, away from our group. Our first real date was going to a local swimming hole and finishing the day with some sushi and Ben & Jerrys. From that day on we have pretty much been inseparable. We have grown so much individually and as a couple over the years. We cannot wait to see what the future has in store for us.
The day started seemingly normal. We were visiting family in NY/NJ for the month before we we had plans to drive to California for my first travel nurse job. We had decided to do some last minute Christmas shopping in the mall and meet up with friends at Dave and Busters during the day. After our mall trip were supposed to go out to dinner with Aaron’s parents, little did I know that was never the plan. When we arrived home Aaron’s dad Ed was (pretending to be) sick and his parents were not going to be able to join us for dinner. I was dissappointed and offered that we stay behind as well, but they insistented we go. We arrived at this beautiful restraunt in Closter, NJ called The Hill and had a delicious meal. After dinner Aaron suggested that we check out this bar/lounge that was upstairs in the restraunt. When we arrived upstairs there was no bar/lounge to be found, only a room decorated for Christmas with and painting that looked alot like Vermont in the corner. Aaron suggested that we take a closer look at the painting, which was absolutely stunning. As we approached the painting Aaron explained that it was the view from the place that he first fell in love with me. It was a view from a fire escape at UVM at sunrise over the green mountains. Then he got down on one knee and i said the easiest yes I’ve said in my entire life. When we arrived back at Aaron’s house there was a huge surprise party waiting for us with some of out closest friends and family. I was over the moon excited and could not stop crying tears of joy. It was one of the best days of our lives and I know we will cherish that memory forever.
