Chuck and I got engaged on Bow Bridge in Central Park on New Years Day. We rang in 2020 celebrating love and planning our big days! The original plan was to say our vows in Nashville, TN and jet off to Tulum, MX for a curated elopement ceremony. Receptions were (are?) planned to take place this summer in Nashville, Chapel Hill, and Philadelphia with our nearest and dearest in all the places we consider to be home. Flash forward to the beginning of March, and the world changed. Making the call to cancel our elopement trip under the guidance of the CDC and travel.gov was not easy. Although we knew we made the right choice, we grieved the change in plans for a full two weeks before deciding to put our soon-to-be-expiring marriage license to use. An in-home wedding was planned in 72 hours and shared with our guests on Zoom. On March 31st, 2020, we got married in our living room with only two people from out of our home in physical attendance--our officiant and his beautiful wife who served as our witness and boss photographer. The ceremony was beautifully scripted to include personal features, vows, and a ring exchange. We stayed 6+ feet away, winked instead of hugged, and the scent of Chloe Love Story paired with Clorox was the romantic aroma of the evening. The world is so scary right now, but for a few hours, we almost forgot it was ending. It was truly overwhelming to see all of our loved ones uniting on an app that neither of us had used pre-pandemic. One of our favorite songs as a couple is called "Depth over Distance" by Ben Howard. It’s forever the motto of this event and this season that we are all in together both individually and collectively as humanity. Thank you for helping to make our day full of magic & joy.
