Sandra: “Towson University is filled with many stories to be told. But one story I love is our story. TU held a school dance where the theme was “urbano.” The dress code was to have on street wear/urban look. But, many wore ties and dresses. As I was looking for someone to dance with one guy caught my eye. He was wearing a grey sweater, a navy blue hat, Jordans, and ripped jeans cut at the knees. I couldn’t keep my eyes off him. So, I approached him without thinking twice and asked him to dance with me. He accepted my offer, but as soon as I touched his hand the DJ stopped the music. The DJ announced that the dance competition was starting and to grab our dance partner. Without hesitation I asked Jerry to dance with me even though I am not an amazing dancer. Eventually we got out of the competition and had a good laugh. We made sure to take some photos together that night and it honestly felt like we have known each other for so long. We became inseparable since that night. On November 19, 2017 Jerry made it official and asked me to be his girlfriend. I did not expect to find the love of my life on the dance floor. I thank God for putting him in my life since he is the man I have been praying for. Jerry is loving, selfless, charming, and hilarious. I can not imagine my life without him.”
Jerry: “As our summer was coming to an end we took a family trip with her father to Panama City, Florida. I knew she was the one for me as I was for her. Before I could propose I needed her parent's blessing. I did not tell them I was going to propose that week as I wanted it to be a surprise. Sandra and I planned to have a photoshoot that day. I told her I had forgotten a lens and would be right back. I went up the elevator to the 18th floor and scouted her father by the pool. I gave him a call but he denied my call more than twice. So I sent him a message letting him know it was me. He returned my call and waved at me from the pool. I told him I am going to propose and needed his blessing. He was happy for us and granted me his blessing. I then called her mother. She was not too thrilled as she wanted to be present when I would propose. She was holding back and telling me to do it in Maryland but I could not give up this opportunity. I let her know that this was an intimate moment that I would like to share with only the two of us. After a few minutes, she gave me her blessing. I then came down the elevator and Sandra was suspicious as to why it had taken me so long. We then went to the beach to take our photos. We found a spot where there were not many people and the sunset can be seen. I started to set up the camera. I had the ring in my back pocket. I told her to look into the sunset and I would take some pictures. Instead, I hit the record button. As she looked away my brain left my body. I got behind her and said “Stephanie Lopez Sandra Aguilar, Lopez Sandra… Sandra Stephanie Aguilar Lopez. Do you want to marry me?” I was nervous that I forgot how to say her name. She said yes and I proceeded to put the ring on her finger. The sun was setting, the birds were flying over us and I knew this moment was meant for us. We took pictures and went to the condo. As we got back we saw fireworks exploding. It was a magical day meant for us.”
