When Emily Met Anthony

2012 to 2019

We met at church. We were both intrigued by each other. We had many deep conversations over the years, whether they were about music, theology, movies, food or life, they were deep. However, whenever someone would ask either Emily or Anthony if we would ever date each other, the answer was firmly no. "He's a Philly boy" was Emily's answer and "she's not my type" was Anthony's answer.

You've Got Mail

Summer 2019

During the summer of 2019, many things changed for both of Emily & Anthony. Emily's grandmother, who she lived with for 7 years passed away in June. Anthony had a few blind dates that all led to more questions. Emily and Anthony began spending more time together, in a smaller friend group. After a summer bonfire at a friend's house, Emily acknowledged that their relationship had moved from friendship to something more. So she wrote a letter and handed it to Anthony after church the next Sunday. A week later, he asked her out on a date.

Three First Dates

Fall 2019

When Anthony & Emily finally did go out, there were three critical dates before Anthony asked Emily to be his girlfriend. Secretly they were both putting each other through mental and spiritual tests. Both passed with flying colors.

Love in the Time of Corona

Spring 2020

Like most people, the global pandemic affected our lives. We spent many nights around a campfire outside in order to socially distance but still see each other. During this time we grew together by having long talks about our future, about our faith and what we wanted to do once the social distancing restrictions had been lifted.

The Proposal

August 1, 2020

Anthony knew that Emily would probably not be completely surprised by his proposal, but he knew he had to get everything else right. He knew the place had to be special. So he chose a place the was special to them both during a time that was important. During the pandemic, they had taken long walks in the Norristown Farm Park; they even had a spot along the creek that was "their spot". So on August 1, after many lies were told and plans were made, Anthony made the move & asked Emily to be his wife. She wasn't surprised it was that day, but she was surprised with the location. She said yes!
