The resort is at the heart of our community - swing by for an afternoon and use the gondola to take up to the Sunspot restaurant at the top of the resort for a cocktail, or get off the gondola and enjoy an amazing hike along Fantasy Meadow. You can also ride the Alpine Slide for some good wholesome fun, or if you're feel extra adventurous, rent a mountain bike and go downhilling!
We are lucky enough to have this incredible National Park just out our back door! Take a 45 minute drive from downtown Fraser to the entrance of the Park - keep in mind that the you will need a timed entry pass. You can book a timed entry pass on their website after 5 pm the day prior to when you want to go. Just make sure that the person who books the pass is in the car with you and has a form of ID. Once in the Park you can enjoy some incredible views while driving Trail Ridge Road which is North America's highest paved road. Andy and I go into the park several times a year and always enjoy seeing the wildlife and incredible high alpine tundra. Be sure to bring lots of water, extra layers, and sunscreen!
Grand Lake is our version of a "beach town," it is crazy busy in the summer and a quiet little ghost town in the winter. You will drive by Grand Lake on your way in and out of Rocky Mountain National Park, so feel free to make a little pit stop for an ice cream cone and some amazing views. The Troublesome Fire in October of 2020 almost burned down the town of Grand Lake, so you will notice significant fire damage in the surrounding areas. Thanks to all of our first responders and firefighters, the historic town still stands.
You can pick up the Fraser River Trail pretty easily in downtown Fraser and Winter Park. This is a nice paved path that will take you all the way up to Winter Park Resort. Enjoy great views and soak your feet in the icy water. The town of Winter Park also hosts an Art Walk along this trail where you will see large framed prints of artwork done by various local artists. You can rent a bike from any of the numerous bike shops in the area and cruise this trail as well.
