Washington Park Beach
This sandy beach is a great place to swim, sunbathe, or go for a walk. There's also a pier with a lighthouse at the end that you can walk out on for some great views of the lake.
Lake Michigan, La Porte, Indiana
Go for a boat ride on Lake Michigan. There are a number of marinas in La Porte where you can rent a boat or take a charter fishing trip.

La Porte- Historical Sites
Visit the LaPorte County Historical Museum to learn about the history of the area. The museum has exhibits on everything from Native American history to the Civil War. See the LaPorte Courthouse, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The courthouse was built in 1873 and is a beautiful example of Second Empire architecture. Take a walk through Soldiers Memorial Park, which is home to a Civil War monument and a number of other memorials to veterans.
Washington Park Zoo
Visit the Washington Park Zoo. This small zoo is home to a variety of animals, including lions, tigers, bears, and monkeys.
