Jaime and Andy met at Passion City Church in Atlanta, GA. Jaime moved to Atlanta in 2017 and had been serving at Passion ever since. When Andy moved to Atlanta in 2021, he too started to serve at Passion, but their paths never crossed. Five months later, Andy decided to get baptized at church. The forecast showed rain all day, but there ended up not being a cloud in the sky. This was helpful because the baptisms were held outside. That day Jaime was baptizing a 6 year old girl she formed a relationship with in the kid's ministry. She was chasing that little girl around the atrium at church before the baptisms started, and this is where she caught Andy's eye. Jaime noticed Andy and thought to herself, "who is he, and why have I never met him before." Throughout the course of that day, they continued to find one another looking each other's way. Jaime here - I remember the moment Andy got baptized. I was standing behind him as they began to share his story with the rest of the church. A northeastern guy that grew up in church and played sports, that ended up building an incredible relationship with Jesus and wanted to proclaim that in front of a few thousand people. I was listening to his story as I watched him stand up there so full of joy with the biggest smile on his face. I honestly remember thinking to myself, "I hope I wind up with a man like him." After baptisms were over, Andy came up to me and introduced himself. The moment he said "Roll Tide", I fell in love (and then realized he wasn't really an Alabama fan, he just said it to impress me). We started to chat, and after I went home I honestly couldn't get him out of my head. My family always told me I would wind up with a northerner (I'm from NJ), and I would always respond saying something like, "well, I haven't met any that love Jesus, so I'm not sure about that." I remember calling my best friend Amanda after that day and telling her I had found a northeastern guy who loved Jesus, to which she replied "sounds like you've found your unicorn." After our first date, I knew she was right. And I knew I wanted to marry him. We sat outside at my apartment complex near the river for that first date. When my parents moved me into my apartment in Atlanta, my dad and I sat in almost the same exact spot, and he said to me, "I can see you sitting here with an incredible man one day." My father passed away before Andy could meet him, but I knew in that moment, Andy was a gift from my dad. Andy here - I had been coming to Passion City Church for five months and said to myself when I saw Jaime for the first time, "who is this girl, and why have I not met her." I quickly asked around to see if she was available. From multiple reliable sources, they gave me the green light. Hours later, I introduced myself and said "Roll Tide". Little did she know, I'm a South Carolina Gamecock fan (it helps to know all the buzz words here in the South). Seven days later, I called her and asked her if she wanted to grab coffee on Memorial Day after my Murph Workout. I didn't shower, I had chalk on my shorts, and I wanted her to see the real me. As I approached her apartment, she was standing outside in jean shorts and a black t-shirt and I said to myself, "Gosh, she's gorgeous. I hope she likes Disney and Christmas." We talked for 3 or 4 hours at the river and I didn't want the day to end. We ended up getting tacos and then parted ways. I knew she was the girl I was going to marry. From that day on, we never missed a day of talking to one another.
Jaime is from Point Pleasant, New Jersey and it is a very special place to her. She had some of her best memories there and I thought this would be a great place to propose. Jaime lost her Dad to cancer in 2020 so I never got the opportunity to meet him and ask him for her hand in marriage. I wanted to make sure Mr. Williams was part of the proposal. With the help of two of Jaime's best friends we pulled off a surprise at the boardwalk in Point Pleasant. It was a sunny Monday afternoon (30 degrees) and the plan was to get a late slice of pizza at the boardwalk and walk around. This was a spot where Jaime and her dad would go to the arcade, go to the beach and fish off the pier. I knew her Dad was right there with us when I got down on one knee. We were the only people on the boardwalk besides Jaime's best friends who were dressed up in disguise to capture the moment. God blessed me with some thiccccc thighs so getting down on one knee was a walk in the park. We celebrated at one of Jaime's favorite Italian restaurants that night and popped champagne with her mom when we got home.
