How We Met

We Go Way Back

Our paths first crossed over 20 years ago when Devin's family moved from Kingston, NY to Moodus, CT. We grew up together in our small Connecticut town, and while Andy was playing all the sports, Devin was cheerleading on the sidelines (classic) and reading Harry Potter. Neither of us peaked in middle school, but we did share our first dance at the end of 8th grade in our middle school gym to the classic love song, Stairway to Heaven. Spoiler alert... Led Zeppelin will most definitely NOT be our first dance song at our wedding.

Prom Dates to Soul Mates

14 years in the making

Given our small school (Go Noises!) and tight knit community, we shared classes, friendships and memories together long before we even started dating. It wasn't until senior year that Andy quit playing hard to get and Devin finally won him over, and we'll never forget when we agreed to start dating on November 20th, 2007. What better place to start our relationship than in the high school hallway in front of the locker rooms? From there we made the most of our senior year together, enjoying cafeteria lunches, passing notes, and even becoming Prom King & Queen! Seeing each other every day came to an end after high school and we went from living 8 minutes apart to two hours apart, which would continue for the next 12 years. Our long-distance journey began when Devin enrolled at the University of Connecticut (Go Huskies!) and Andy enrolled at Saint Anselm College (Go Hawks!) in New Hampshire. After college, Andy pursued his collegiate soccer coaching career and Master's Degree at UConn, while Devin moved to Boston to pursue her Master's Degree and career in Higher Education at Northeastern University. Our twenties were filled with adventures beyond the many weekend trips to see each other (and soccer games). From exploring all over New England to international trips to France, Quebec, Ireland, England and Iceland, we've collected stamps in our passports and memories we will always cherish. While pursuing our careers and growing as individuals during our twenties, we stayed committed to each other and grew together instead of apart. After 12 years of distance, we started off our thirties by finally moving in together in the summer of 2020 and have enjoyed every minute of it since. We both always knew that once we got together it would be forever, and couldn't be more excited to be planning our wedding!

The Proposal

08.09.21

For anyone who knows the Smith Family, Lake George is their favorite place and their second home. The Smiths have been visiting this upstate New York gem every summer for over 50 years and the tradition was started by Devin's Nana and Papa. Each summer is a family reunion spent camping on the islands, enjoying each other's company and the simple things in life. Andy knew this would be the perfect place for the proposal, especially when Devin started scheduling wedding venue tours at Lake George before being engaged for their family trip this past August. After a tour of the historic Sagamore Resort with both Devin and Andy's families present, Andy popped the question with Lake George and the Adirondack Mountains in the background. Devin burst into tears, of course, and then said yes!

We wouldn’t be here without you

And we can’t wait to celebrate with you!

Having been together for so many years, If you know Andy or Devin, then you also know the other. We have been so lucky to get to know each other's family and friends well and to have so many wonderful people in our lives. Through the ups and downs over the years, we are so grateful for your love and support of us as individuals and as a couple.
